But they still set records on them so....

TBH I actually LIKE the blue scheme of GB's X58 and P55 boards. Looks nice if you have a blue theme going with your PC like blue LED's and what-not.
But the black appeals to even more people, and looks cleaner. Also black goes well with any PC lighting/color scheme, whether it be blue, red, green etc.

Gonna have to wait and see how this platform/GB's black mobo's go. Will probably end up grabbing one if they are as good as their current boards

Terra i don't know why but I'm guessing you just havent really read up on the new PWM since the introduction of the UD9 board but things have changed in terms of how we design PWM and for better.

It is no longer only phase count but what they do that makes a difference and so we've gone to a new gen driver MOS setup with true 16phase or 24 phase you see on high end X58 boards. I can't comment on P67 yet but if you look at the specs on websites provided you will notice the dual power switching VRM mention (same as UD9 ). Read up on the unlocked power VRM some more.

The new VRM is also more power efficient and it uses phases on the tap when it needs them hence you dont need to use all 20 or 24 phases unless the application requires it. There is no extra heat generated. What you actually do when you implement a good VRM is a better load balance on individual components reducing pressure on individual components and heat generated by them. Gigabyte boards are extremely reliable due to the engineering put into them. I personally don't think there is a single other manufacturer that puts this much effort into board engineering through the entire product range as GBT does. No matter whether you pickup the H55N-USB3 miniITX or UD9 you are using the same "base" technology. You are not forced to cough up big bucks to be able to get decent tech.

Thumbs up

Brilliant looking boards!
Wouldn't thinner HS fins dissipate heat better?

But hey performance is everything and GBT rarely lets us down, will interesting times in Jan 2011. Wonder if I can hold out for a X68.....

Yeah. The UD5 looks really nice, whereas I can't help but feel that the UD7's look will age quickly. I personally love the blue PCBs, but enough people complain about them for Gigabyte to realise that they shouldn't cut themselves out of a percentage of market share in order to keep their colours.

I wonder if we'll be seeing this scheme on AMD boards?

I like the colour scheme a lot, the baby blue was so ugly. P67 looks very good as well but I very highly doubt I will go with gigabyte though.

Looks definitely better than the "China" blue we had before.

This is great to see, finally boards that we know work well, perform well, are very reliable and now look the part.

Now we just need to see this in the X58 range with hopefully red highlights, or better still, different colour highlights included so that the user can change them to suit their own scheme.

A new X58 GA with a new 6000 series AMD card will look hot and perform as good as it looks.

Good work GA, but it must be said, about bloody time.

I remember I had to hacksaw some heatsinks to make a cooler fit on a P35-DQ6 which had massive 'copper' heatsinks..

As you can see here.

http://www.hardwarezone.com.au/revie...6&id=2246&pg=2

That backplate and who knows what else more were only copper plated. I hack-sawed it in 1/2 and it was bog standard Al

Agree the blue ones do look better than the gold..but both are miles better than the current blue pcbs crop

I don't mind the blue since as its consistent throughout their range - unlike some brown pcb offerings we see.
