If you read the comments on YouTube, it's a project called "Automatic Mario". It appears to be an entire project dedicated to making these sorts of things.
I watched the video twice carefully, and there was one point where it appeared Mario got a bit of a helping hand from input. I could be wrong though, but I'll try to get the exact time down a bit later. And hell yeah, the soundtrack rocks. I'm not much of a J-pop lover, but that was cool.
