jokes bud, i rate the AMD cpu's for there value vs performance, just wished they gave Intel a bit more competiton so we dont get arse raped for pricing. Same with AMD GPU vs Nvidia, we dont need one company dictating

Not really, the 1055/90/1100 performed really well, its still the top dog for AMD's lineup, easily smokes a 2500k/3550k.

I used to be an Intel fanboy myself (and before that, Mac), but for me the pricepoint seems more about perceived value than actual value, much like imported vs domestic anything. I know several years ago there was a valid reason to want a P4 over what AMD had available (and even then, only for specific tasks), but today it seems largely hypothetical numbers that very few applications outside of benching will ever even utilize. I recommend and build entirely AMD/ATI now. Plus, German engineering - can't go wrong

not sure about AMD as I've always gone on actual performance and features and it still shows AMD is lacking compared to intel, take Bulldozer for example, absolute fail and half.

as for ATI/AMD, i was a massive fan during the days of there earlier 3000/4000 & 5000 series, I had the 4890 and the 5870 and couldnt fault them, they were great cards and performed well. But after my experience with the 6970 and its wowful drivers, NEVER AGAIN. got stung hard, Nvidia are just quality when it comes to software/drivers.

That also comes down to specific manufacturers also, XFX are awesome for drivers and support (they put out a new set of drivers for the gtx295 like a month ago, now that is golden imo). Wouldn't touch Bulldozer if you paid me. Also, driver issues generally only seem to be problematic when crossing platform anyway (in my experience, of course, of say, using Intel with an ATI card, or AMD with Nvidia). I haven't had driver issues for a few years now.

agreed
I am still rocking them its pain, i have to live with two of them. Initially it was just fan noise, but i got watercooling, then it got to a point where games just wouldn't start up (drivers 11.2 and some other ones). You actually dont know which drivers are the ones to use.

ahhh... this reminds me of something Creekin posted a while back, the analogy being basically that you wouldn't let a Mechanic you didn't know, sight-unseen install some new thing into your car that you have no idea about and then hit the big new red button while highway driving would you? The parable holds for updates and drivers - do a wee bit of research before hitting agree and install on anything. It takes a bit of time wading through the raft of mis- dis- and shit-info, but saves such headaches in the end.

Bloody Creekin, who is this man? But in all fareness, when they release a driver saying "x game" will now have proper crossfire support or "x game" gains 10 percent performance, then to find out that once these new drivers are installed other shit goes wrong, like Vsync in Eyefinity isnt working, well thats pretty disheartening.

I think once AMD aquired ATI, they must of hired some really lazy software developers cause there catalyst drivers just went down hill.. All in all the product is great, especielly the 7000s series, it really performs up there with Nvidia but its lacking software support lets it down hard.

Yeah I agree, i should probably do some research before just clicking install. But i paid like around 800 AUD all up, i just expect some decent driver support. Oh well, they do say: expect the unexpected. Still i have no expectations from any company now, its either a good product or bad product.
