Question help Win 7:ADI 1981B audio driver

I have a notebook Compaq R3007AP running on windows 7 Ultimate but with no sound everything I have tried has not worked, has anyone got the sound running with a similar lappy?ADI 1981B audio on-board Chip, this chip was used on many laptops but have not found a compatible driver yet

The reason you haven't found a compatible driver is no such driver exists.

Have you tried to see if windows update picks up an update driver for you? Just make sure you have the options ticked in the settings.

But considering the last driver update was in 2004 i'm surprised windows 7 nativitly does not support it.

Thank you Digital Monkey, its Amazing how Linux keeps up but MS has not, but I will keep on trying, so far have found a Dell Driver for the Touch Pad on the Notebook, I am sure there is an answer somewhere

Don't bother. There is no Vista/7 driver for that particular audio chipset, and as ADI don't make audio codecs anymore I doubt there ever will be. You could always grab a cheap USB sound adapter.
