Default Tablet as a media player?

Hey guys.

I can't find much info on these being used as media players, so thought I would ask here!

What would be the downside of using, say a $200-$250 Android tablet with WiFi and 1080p HDMI output as a small, out-of-sight HTPC replacement?

Would the output sound quality be shit? I'm quite sure there is some app that would allow me to use my iphone 4 as a remote too.

Thanks!

I am presuming it would be lack of software.

Surely something such as VLC could be used on Android 2.1 ?

I've been looking at this too. To my mind, there are two problems:
  1. Lack of storage space - but then many tablets can have external hdds added via USB
  2. Lack of remote control - you can get any number of USB remotes, but I'd be surprised if any work with tablet OSes - plus you now need two USB ports...

Solution may be here though:

A tablet with it's own remote!
