It's not like the 580 customer have a choice as with the 460 (where you can just buy a 6800 instead). They seem to choose to rather wait than buy a 5970.

The 6900 series might change this, however the delays played right into the hands of Nvidia...
Not when you can't buy their cards... if the 6900 launches with stock (which is possibly why there's a delay) then NVIDIA launching first was a bad move.

NVIDIA launched first so their 580's would compete with 68x0 cards and show that NVIDIA is "number 1". Their 580 could not be benched against the 6900 range...

The 6900 will be benched AGAINST the GTX580, so if it win's, it will be able to both a: say it in the review, b: give the customers waiting a better choice, c: if stock is available then NVIDIA are in trouble with the 580 unless stock starts ramping up big time.

570/560 will be popular, of course - but again it comes down to pricing and availability.

Was fine for us, we ran the cheapest price in Australia for our beloved OCAU members with no issues with stock the entire time, feel free to come to SA and look at our sales records if you like.

This is going OT anyway, the 580 has no stock [in quantity], conversation over.

Also, before I get quoted, I mean Australian stock - I'm not comparing to other countries.

No in Acidburn lagugage stock is great; NewEgg is great for getting an idea of US stock

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...iption=GTX+580

Note: Out of Stock stands for; OMG It's so popular they can't keep up with the HUGE demand.

LOL! Wow you RARELY see that for Newegg on an entire series of cards. In fact I can't remember ever seeing that.

It happend here and there with the HD 5970 but there wasn't the amount listed like the GTX 580.

You're not talking like two or three brands being listed and all are out of stock.

There's 11 brands listed there all Out of Stock, crazy stuff.

Based on what?

So if the HD 6970 is released and is Faster and Cheaper then the GTX 580, the GTX 580 will contiue to sell like hotcakes no matter what price?

That's simply not true. Because once stock comes in if the HD 6970 is a real competitor, which it should be, NVIDIA will have to drop the price on the card.

There's no way the GTX 580 will sell like "hotcakes" if it's more expensive and slower then the HD 6970. Yes it will sell, for the simple reason alot of people prefer NVIDIA over AMD, but it's nieve to say they will sell like "hotcakes" at any price once the HD 6900 series is released.

So now that we've heard everyone's opinion on supply vs demand can we move on?

Oh big time - as I said, I've had 13 enquiries, that's 12 more than I had for the 480 at the same time.

I'm sick of deleting posts in these threads, all from the same handful of members who constantly post shit about each other, you are all on the verge of permanent bans if I have any say about it.

Thread closed until further notice, I may be bothered to clean it up tomorrow after work but I may just let it slide off into oblivion.
