Anyway... So this all started because Chappy responded to a comment on the 5970. It has no relevence to GTX580 vs HD6970, I'm guess it wasn't meant to either.

CF scaling with 2 cards on 6800 is fine, who knows if it will also be fine on Cayman, one can only assume.

riiiiiiiight.......

There you go again with putting words in my mouth there bud. I never made any assumptions on what such people could dream of, i am talking about what is within the means of most gamers.

It is entirely concieveable that somebody would buy one card as they can afford it easily, and 12 months down the track when prices are lower, throw a second one in as an upgrade.

Honestly, does every debate you partake in boil down to such petty straw picking?
For most the scaling ability of both brands is irrelevant be it two, three or four GPU setups.

It was mentioned that at three AMD was better at four NVIDIA was better; you then made a point to say it doesn't matter because for majority of gamers only two matter.

Considering that MAJORITY of gamers use only one video card I don't see how the scaling benefits of two is better for NVIDIA then AMD when majority of gamers won't even use the technology.

I’m benchmarking at the moment so got a long night in front of the PC, just let me know how long you want to go for.

Awsome, we're at the point now in which we just make up numbers.

I can't wait for the GTX 580 X2 as well, it's going to be awsome!

I think everyone should chill.

Mobile chips please? This 9600M in my laptop is barely coping with Shattered Horizon on minimum settings...

Actually, i have allready pointed out in a previous post how 2 card scaling can be an important factor for the average user.
I'm getting a little tired of spoon feeding you information when you just keep spitting it back out again anyway, so you can find it yourself.

Again, two is more obtainable and therefore much more relevant than 3 or 4. You can draw this out all you want, but you will not change this fact.

So far in this conversation you have clearly shown your tendancy to string out the subject into petty straw picking.
Now you further soil your credibility by hinting you are much more prepared to endure a whole nights of petty to'ing and fro'ing rather than pulling in your head when you are wrong.

Wow, i both pity and admire you at the same time

So Shane, you're currently benching the 580? Whilst i realise you can't spill any info; any suggestions for someone with a GTX285? I'm currently on the "i'll keep waiting for X to come out" bandwagon and it's about time to bite the bullet. Dunno if i should go for a 6870, 6970 or a 480 or a 580. I want a decent increase but don't want dual-GPU.

Negative, mentioned earlier still don't have one.

I havne't even had an NDA come through from NVIDIA so clearly wasn't any intension of getting.

Testing GTX 480 SOC from Gigabyte at the moment. Love the new Windforce series of fan, especially on the HD 6850 1050MHz core MMmmm

APAC get's screwed!!!

ATOMIC seem to have ran into trouble as well.

Atomic: Hi {A}, we were wondering when we'd be able to get a review sample of the new GTX580? We were told to expect them roughly by the 9th of November.

Partner A: We're getting some in mid November. You'll be getting one then.
Atomic: Hi {B}, when will we be getting one of your GTX580 cards?
Partner B: We're not actually sure. Stock might be in by December, but we haven't got a confirmation at this stage.
Atomic: Hi {C}, when can we expect the new GTX580 card?
Partner C: ....We don't have that card on our roadmap. Does it exist?
Atomic: Hi {D}. So, how's about that new GTX580?
Partner D: We're getting stock in soon, so expect the card shortly.

LOL "does this product exist?" hahahha

It sounds like Nvidia might be cutting their partners and selling retail themselves with this chip
