Well considering a GTX 480 is an EOL item, and the GTX 580 costs on average in the mid to high 600's. I would say a Australian sell price of $499 wouldn't be out of the question. Plus there is the factor of some people not liking the heat and noise of the GTX 480.

well i agree but i also disagree, the 580 as shown in reviews does get as hot and uses as much power under sli basically, and its bump in performance will being ok quote* a 480 on steriods* and the fact it needs to supposly dynamically adjusts performance to keep within power specs, clearly shows its as power hungry

Thats cool, I agree with that. While i would love a cheap GTX 570, it unfortunately doesn't seem to be happening from what has been said. Plus the pricing Australia seems to get stuck with.

Also with semiaccurate stating that the new die is actually a tad bigger than existing parts, i'm sure it's not a cheap GPU to make

the OP says 570 release date is dec 8?
did the release date change or is it just because of timezones?
