Sounds about right if its not fully downclocking at idle (if your running multiple monitors at different resolutions usually causes it)

Just add the 580 to your loop, I'm getting around 26 @idle and 41@load with 23-24 amb temp.

Nope, but as below says, add to watercooling loop and profit.

Hmm means im going to have to buy a WB for it.
ive only got a thermochill 360 so i might need to throw in another 240 or sell the 360 and grab a 480 (can probably just get away with a 360 although it may get a bit toasty in summer).

choices choices.

What CPU? a 360mm would be fine, the thermochill is a pretty beasty rad tbh.

I used to run a C0 i7 920 @ 4ghz, 1.41v and a gtx 295 all on a single Black Ice GTX 360mm.

If your running a single 580 the 360 should suffice, I have 2x580s and and 970 with a single 480Rad and temps are awesome. I don't have my cards OC'd yet but temps should still be perfectly reasonable when i do.

w3520 @ 4.2ghz 1.288v, Koolance rampage 3 block and 3x1450GT's. had a 4870x2 and my i7 in the same loop in summer cpu use to reach 65-70 max and gfx was 55 max(oc to 850 core).

thinking about it it could very well be adequate.

koolance block or something else?(want to stay away from a certian manufacturer)

Yeah guess going 480 would be overkill. btw im hoping i can clock the shit out of this because its been binned at a higher standard.

Hey guys, I've currently got two GTX 460s in SLI and wondering if it was worth changing over to AMD cards for Eyefinity. These cards are OK for single screen gaming at 1920 x 1200, but I recently got a 3rd monitor and I think the 1GB Vram along with the GPU power is holding them back in Surround resolutions.

I would prefer to stay with Nvidia, but I don't think the 1.2GB of Vram on the 570 is enough of an upgrade for surround resolutions, same with the 1.5GB on the GTX 580. 580 3GB cards are out of my price range.

The 1.2GB of vram on the 570 is plenty for surround resolutions, all setting maxed, AA/AF no less that 8x, in most cases 16x @ 6020 x 1080.

Don't believe the bullshit [H]OCP rants on about in regard to vram, more vram will make an unplayable 7fps into a still unplayable 14fps - Percentage wise, a nice improvement....But still unplayable....

I used to run Surround at the same resolution on two GTX275's running 896MB of vram, in many games I was running a maximum FPS of around 110FPS averaging around 90FPS and getting a min of no less than 60FPS with all settings maxed, naturally I was running less AA/AF - Search these forums and you'll find my FRAPS results complete with screenshots.

Get the displays, if my GTX275's could handle Surround than your 460's should do fine - Once you're sure you like gaming on three monitors, upgrade your video cards if you feel the need.

Personally, although I like Nvidia video cards better unless you can get the 3GB 580's I would skip Nv for surround and go for 2GB 6950's unlocked to 6970's in eyefinity, unless you would like to keep Nvidias features of course.. but if you play games with plain Jane stock IQ there is no reason not to use AMD.

Good luck finding unlockable 6950's....

Even with 2GB, two locked 6950's are going to struggle against two 570's in surround as the 570's are quite simply faster, and they have three DVI outputs.
