Hey guys I'm in the market for new graphics, and I can SLI if need be, I have three screens and I would love to use either Eyefinity or Surround - I've always been an Nvidia fangirl, but what's the best bang for buck these days? Should I go GTX570s in SLI, or a single GTX580? Or is AMD probably a bit better?

Dual 570's FTW. If you want 3 screen support - a single GTX580 won't cut it.

Like Anth said, for nvidia, the best performance/dollar has to be the 570.
The new AMD cards do really well at high resolution and more often than not compete with the 580 at the high res with high AA and they also scale better going by all the reviews.
I have a 6970 and have only benched 3DM11 with it. I'm yet to play or bench any games. I will set it up and run eyefinity from the single card soon.

Have a look through some game tests here. The higest res is 2560x1600 and your 3 screen setup will be much higher, so you should focus on that res as it's the closest to what yours would be.

Your such an Nvidia Fanboi

check out my super poll DreamX http://forums.overclockers.com.au/sh...d.php?t=926591

PS

Even if a single GTX 580 would cut it , you need two Nvid cards to run surround .

I think the appropriate response if you walked into a mens room and saw 20 women in there all protesting your use of your own toilet area, is to just unzip, flop out, and pelvis thrust into a helicopter motion until you nunchuck your way to the urinal.

Yeh that's true.... But you poll doesn't include the GTX460s which I hear scale really well and are cheap as chips... How about them versus the SLI GTX570s?

hahaha change of times hey? Accused of being a fanboy and I said I'd get 480's if they had better thermals/power/noise (and the 570's are equal in perf. but much beter in everything else) and I did.

I've been on both sides of the fence now :P

Voted in your poll too hahaha

As TOX mentioned previously, it's too early to speculate on pricing. Ask again sometime in the first half of Jan 2011

460SLI and 570SLI... 570SLI rips them to shreds.

A 460SLI setup will be ~480 speeds. 570 is ~480 speeds... so 570SLI when scaled properly (3 screens/AA/120fps) will be twice as fast as a 460SLI setup.

yea as mentioned above the 460s in sli dont have enough grunt for surround , I just purchased 2 6970s ( only because they come in a cool case ) instead of the 570s , it was a hard choice , still not sure if I made the right choice , the 570s is the better buy .

Get the 570s since your a fan and save some money

My 2 x 275's have more than enough grunt for surround at almost 6000 x 1080 lines, I see no reason whatsoever why two 1GB 460's in surround wouldn't be as fast as a single 5970 running Eyefinity, remember, surround scales better than standard SLi.

With a good overclock the 460 in sli would be right up there with a 5970 , personally I would like a little bit more grunt .
