I changed from a gtx 280 to gtx 480 on my system in sig and score never changed much at all where my 3dmark 11 score improved heaps as well. 3dmark 06 probably cpu bound i reckon

I haven't had any issues with SLi using different brand cards but there have been some cases where there have been (as stated by DM below). With SLi and Crossfire they dont need to be the same brand, same model cards.

In an ideal world then yes NVIDIA's statement rings true. But some people have reported mixed issues with using different brands and configs. While it's rare, it can happen just to make that clear.

I'll rephrase my comment above then. Thanks for that, I hadn't had any issues at all with my dealings with SLi but thanks for the heads up

Ok I'm not sure if this is the right place, but it's a start

As I posted in here a few weeks back, I got my 560 SOC and had dramas with it playing BC2. At stock clocks, it would last a few minutes before getting the white screen of death. The only remedy I found was to significantly under clock the card. This only occured in BC2. I RMA'd the card to pc case gear and got the new one late last week and only managed to install it this week (2nd baby arrived last Wedneaday )

When I was having these problems with the SOC, my rig had been stable @ 4.13ghz for a few months. With my old gtx275 back in the rig while waiting for the new card from pc case gear, the PC bsod and reset to standard clocks while my wife was using the computer and now For some reason now the rig won't hold much of an OC, 3.2ghz at the moment.

Now, with new SOC in the PC, and a much lower OC, the SOC still white screens at standard clocks but it took much longer that previously. I lowered the clock to 999mhz and it took longer again before it white screened.

I'm wondering what the issue could be. Given there appears to be a correlation with the lower OC and time before WSOD, what could the cause be? I've run sli gtx275s with this PSU before, so I thought current draw with this setup would be lower and so not need a new one. The psu is a couple of years old though....any ideas?

How long do you guys reckon GTX580 will stay at the top of the heap? Do you think the next lineup will coincide with BF3 release or pre-christmas?

Anyone know when the GTX-560Ti will likely drop in price? I'm looking for an interim card to replace my HD4870 and am pretty much settled on getting a 560 but the $300 price range is just a tad more than I was hoping to spend.

No reason that i can see atm. Both AMD and NVIDIA seem to have filled in those segments and unless one or the other starts a movement in prices, we shouldn't see much of a drop.

Might be worth trying to find a cheap GTX 460 1GB? They seem to perform reasonably well and are priced a lot better to suit your budget.

It just came out not long ago. I wouldn't be expecting any of the current VGA to have a price drop within the next 6 months or so. At the end of the year, when the new series/generation of VGA came out for both NVidia and AMD, then maybe the price will drop, but by then you wouldn't be wanting a GTX560 Ti anymore.
