Q3A: Where is my shotgun laser?

I was just having a bit of a frag and I noticed the weapon pickup model for the shotgun has a laser dot sight on it, and that dredged up a memory of playing Q3A at a net cafe aaages ago, in which I'm sure the shotgun had a laser in first-person view.

Anyhow, in game, my shotgun doesn't have said laser. Is it meant to? I think I can make out a tiny stub of laser at the very end of the barrel, but I'm not sure.

I'm running 1024x768, lightmap, max texture, max geometric, 32-bit everything, bilinear, GL extensions on.

GF2 MX400, WinXP, Det 23.11

It's one of those things like feet in games. They should be there, but strangely, they aren't.

Well, I just did some experimenting, I can see it on other players, I can see it when I land after jumping (the 'suspension' bounce reveals it), and if I drop into third-person I can see it if I walk sideways.

Still, I can only see a little bit, maybe a 'real-world' foot. Is there meant to be more? Is it meant to show up on walls?

it's just one of those things... wtf do you want a laser site on a shot gun anyway, and in q3a all the bullets go where the sight is anyway so it wouldn't do you much good
