I just joined this server today... i know all the WoW servers in other countries mainly the US... but im getting about 400 ping at all times... is this normal for this server for people from Aus? I have played WoW in this past and usually from memory pinged anywhere between 200-300.

I play on Aman'Thul, another oceanic realm. I get that ping also. Did on barthilas too. I have ADSL2+.

The servers are all located physically in the US, so we just have to deal with the fact that having under 200ms is rare. The oceanic ones are just set to our timezone and have mainly players from Aus and NZ. There are various low-cost and legal services you can try like smoothping, wowtunnels etc that can reduce your ping significantly.

Frostmourne is one of the more popular Oceanic Horde realms. Or so I'm told.

Proudmoore/Blackrock were original launch servers (before the introduction by Blizzard of Oceanic time-zone servers) that were tagged as the unofficial Australian servers.

The one advantage that I've noted with Proudmoore (my realm) is that because it isn't an official Oceanic realm, even play times means no queues.

Have heard horror stories from guildies with alts on Oceanic realms of massive Australian evening queues. Especially about Frostmourne.
