not an expert but you'll be missing out on the new races (Blood elves, draenai, worgen, goblins) and a bit of end game content.

Don't do it... seriously, after all the shit about people getting addicted to WoW and completely wrecking their lives with it, you can't think of something better to do?

Get Black Ops if you need a new game

Just getting WoW would be highly pointless and boring, as others have said it's cheap as to get all the xpacs now anyway, just get WoW if you want to try it, expecting to buy the rest of the content. I was considering re-subbing for cata just to give it a look now there is a gear reset but eh.....

Actually there are.

You buy basic wow to try it out, then if you hit 60 and want to continue, then buy the expansions.

I agree you wouldn't even come close to touching any of the expansion content until you're well and truly hooked.

I don't understand how you can get addicted to WoW...you must be very very bored..I have multiple characters but not one 85. I'm playing CS:S, COD4 and SC2, aswell as playing WoW..

Besides there's always the 10-day free trial for the nearest expansion you can get. i.e., If you have Pre-BC you'll be able to get a BC expansion for 10-days.

Friends + wow = fun times
(Althought I wouldn't know, I have no friends, but that's what I hear)

Yeah, I personally wouldn't bother logging on unless I have a couple of my RL friends playing too

raids gets tedious and even with the new content its not all the fun anymore.
