Apparently he has 1333Mhz RAM.
I was going off of the stats on his 3DMark11 run where it listed the RAM at 1066Mhz. Does 3DMark11 ever list RAM speed correctly?

The stepping of his CPU is E0. I've got a TRUE or Noctua NH-U12P I can give him if he wants to try it out. How would the Noctua compare to the TRUE for socket 775 u think? I'd rather give him the Noctua cause it's easier to install.

3.8Ghz be doable with that cooler? I never actually overclocked a socket 775 system so not sure how much different that is to 1366. I might have to read a guide or two and do it for him.

btw if you guys don't want me posting this in the thread I will stop as I'm not sure if you find it relevant, but I'd like to see if his score goes up much with a GTX 570 and an overclocked Q9550.

SB is a very weird animal, when i run 3dmark at 2100mhz 7-8-7 it pulls way more score pritty much offsetting a high CPU overclock

Nah its ok, Im a bit over this SB rig, 11 seems to like 1366 better so Im thinking about changing over but is it worth it just to get a better 3D11 score? SB is holding back my 580.

personally I would say Mhz for MHz yes the 1366 kicks ass in 3d11. Finding one that does 5.2GHz on water isn't easy. I haven't tried a bench with these 270.xx drivers yet.

Yeah I dunno, probably not worth the hassle. Basically everything in jtir's system is slower than yours, nearly a full 1Ghz on the processor yet it's still pulling ahead. Something's not right here....

Not sure how common it is but my first ever 2600k can bench @ 5.4Ghz on air in a fairly warm ambient. Was going to take the whole rig outside for a proper benching run when I eventually get a 580. It boot's @ 5.5ghz on air but it's just to hot to do anything with.

Something definitely isn't right. Perhaps try a clean install of Windows? You could just make a new partition on your hdd/ssd for benching so you don't have the hassle of resinstalling everything.

I just did a clean install, made no difference at all. Its an old sata drive but someone else here tried an SSd and it didnt help either.

Edit: I just tried a clean install on an SSD and I can confirm it made no difference at all.

I was talking about the i7 920 on air or water. Sorry for any confusion.
