How do you get rid of the chick's voice that comes with activating sounds? It's driving me insane

I dont know. I've never used sounds. You could always turn them off.

Or find the sound file and delete it.

Are you trying to emulate KDE or something?

Try changing Themes. E comes with 5 default themes, some have sounds, others don't.
