What is also odd is I was running just the first test to see if changes were helping and I get a higher score from test 1 on its own than in the full bench sequence .... and its only my physics and combined scores that have suffered, so thats weird too.

How do you know its time to reinstall? Its not like the old days when a dead os would bsod all the time, maybe not even start up, right?

Scores start going backwards, reinstall, run the same settings and they increase again,

I have a benching drive, it gets wiped every 1-2 days of benching

Does this happen with SSDs?

Nice stuff Yawnie, you'll need some high clockspeed.

btw, once you have a high end water cooling setup the only time you'll use air is to test .

I was on the phone with Yamunsa this morning, we both were laughing about water cooling setups, we have high end blocks, rads and pumps.. with cheap bunnings tubing and auto hose clamps, it can save a lot of cash. a benching rig doesn't have to be a "show" rig

+ 1 for cheap drives; ssds are really only good for pcmark benching imo. i use 36gb raptors, sometimes in raid, as they can be picked up for $15 on the forums pretty easily. if they die it hits the bin or get partitioned and becomes a gaming drive. a tight os and your install times will be under 15 mins... enough time to make a sandy, open a beer and have a smoke

as for water snappy hit the nail on the head - performance for the right price is the only factor for me. hobbies are for the weekend the wife is there for life lol. more often i'd prefer to have a whole new toy than 'e-peen show & shine' unit. my benching rigs usually look like an abortion spread open on the desk. source 2nd hand off the forums and give the blocks a lap. saying that i moved back to air on my gamer as i didn't find the need to push much past 4ghz to play TA, AA2, Rfactor etc.

i prefer to buy watercooling parts individually rather than complete kits. i didnt like the bunnings tube so went to hose specialist. later found mitre 10 have the same tubing.
big radiator, reliable quality pump (high flow for single loop with cpu and vga), maybe separate loop for cpu/vga. i like 1/2 inch tubing all round. keep tightening tube clamps from time to time as the tubing will squash and clamps become loose. spend a decent bit of cash on a waterblocks if you spend big on the rest!

Bunnings used to have nice flexible clear hose but they must have changed supplier, so Mitre 10 has nice hose?

its probably the same tubing still at bunnings. i just thought it kinked too easily when i was checking waterblock size in the store. mitre 10 have reinforced tubing and it is much better imo. harder to cut, but it doesnt kink at all.

Oddly enough my old install on the new setup scored great for a while then dropped, now with a fresh install its still low.
