Default issues organising media on nix

hi all,

every now and again I try to move my desktop to a unix variant, at the moment I'm hooked on mint debating: )

I'm having some issues with organising media and downloads and looking for a hand.

currently on windows 7 I use the search for *.rar and use 7zip to extract everything to a new folder. then I use software called therenamer to name everything correctly based on thetvdb.com.

now on unix/debian I have tried to look for a replacement for the renamer (tried tvnamer from github and others) but nothing worked as well as the renamer all the time. I have also tried to run therenamer in wine installing flash and all dotnets but no luck.

any suggestions?

next how can I make nautilus work the same as the search in windows 7 to search within subfolders vs just in the current?

any help would be great, keen to get off windows just for a change.

Paul

sick beard is one of the greatest pieces of software ever made. take a minute to set up but then it just runs on its own with no interference from you.

You also need to get over the windows directory idea, its crap and outdated, get on the library's bandwagon and you shouldn't need to search, the rare occasion you do use the command line.

finally although mint looks good, just consider that its project head uses mints popularity to push his anti Semite and white power ideology, consider using another distro until he is replaced.

Read the mint blog or just google it, there are dozens of posts and blogs, Although having read a few of them he is in fact anti Israel and not antisemitic, either way do you really want to support such people.

Its a well known view, I try and mention it in the odd linux mint thread on here and am usually censored by the mods.
