hello friends. i bought a i7 920 that does 4.5 and i am wondering what memory i need to overclock it to this speed? also, can i use slower speed ram like 1333 and change a ram bus multiplier somewhere? if so, what is the slowest ram i can get away with?
you will probably ask what cooling, ive got a big 10 ex. slot case so i will throw in a 14d to cool it.

you can use any ram speed, AFAIK, as the ram clock is separated. (separate clock settings are in bios)
I certainly can on mine Maybe mobo chipset/bios dependant.

I'd look up the mobo spec online, if I were you

I would suggest you get DDR1866 or faster at a bare minimum. You are going to be at approximately 225 on the BClock. This means that when using the x8 memory multiplier, you'll be at DDR1800 (225 x 8). Some boards don't have a multiplier lower than x8. So, if you have memory that won't do 1800, your memory will be limiting your OC.
