Default Prey 2 Announced:

Couldn't find many details. I had a lot of fun with Prey. The franchise is owned by Zenimax.

Prey 2, the long discussed sequel to 2006's sci-fi first person shooter, has apparently been revealed via the cover to the new print issue of France-based gaming magazine Joystick. The cover image was posted by French-based web site NoFrag.com

Aside from the cover image there's no other details yet on this sequel. The original game was first developed, and then canceled, by 3D Realms in the late 1990s. It was later revived and then released in 2006 by publisher 2K Games. It used id Software's Doom 3 engine with Human Head Studios handing most of the development duties with 3D Realms as a "producer". Human Head has yet to release a game since Prey came out nearly five years ago. In 2009 it was revealed that the IP rights to Prey to Zenimax Media, the parent company of Bethesda Softworks.
5 years = long dev time if they've been going since

I enjoyed Prey at the time. It was a pretty short game iirc, but it did some interesting things with level design and portal tech / wall & roof walking etc

Will play the sequel for sure

Not sure who's making it, despite talk of a trilogy I'm not sure if they would have started work right after Prey.

Prey was an incredible game. A proper fps too as well as its awesome portal tech. Great and original storyline and a cool art style. If they make a second one as good as the first I'll be stoked. Might have to find my old copy and replay it.

I also thoroughly enjoyed prey, other than the fact that it was impossible to die.

It was a modified doom3 engine. I'd like to think they'd be using Tech5 and IMO they should have with ES:V but I guess we'll see soon.

Spewing. I can't find my old copy of PREY. Steam doesnt sell it anymore because they ran out of CD keys or something epically stupid.
No local games shops would even think about stocking such an old game either.

Anyone know where you can buy and download online for cheap?

Also noticed on wiki that bethesda bought the rights. Interesting.

IIRC I remember seeing a copy or two in the Bargain Basket at my local EB Games. Might be worth a shot.

I didn't expect this one.
Prey was pretty cool (the gravity walks) but for such a long game it was very repetitive.

If you can find your old CD key it activates fine on steam, negating the need to have the original media
