re-did my loop when i got my replacement pump/res. turned my computer on, loaded into windows, shutdown. thought it might have been a one off thing, turned it back on, shut off in a couple seconds. thought shit, brand new motherboard is screwed, swapped over to a temp motherboard, samething. left it overnight. turned it on the next morning, shut off. thought pump must be faulty, turned on my netbook to send an email to xspc, checked my loop again to be sure. everything was tight, no leaks. take everything out, as i'm taking the rad out i notice the pump molex wasn't plugged in

Running a leak test and fluid begins to gush from the Gpu block, spilling down into the fan at the bottom of my Rv02 and making a huge mess. Turns out I'd gotten half way through tightening the top of the gpu block down and became sidetracked.

Done the same as fastfwd. The Swiftech block I got came with a clear plastic which was perfectly stuck to the base so it looked like there wasnt one on there lol.

Forgot to finish tightening a stop fitting on my pump. Luckily I had a lot of toilet paper on hand when I turned on the computer

Oh and managed to puncture my rad after I screwed a fan in too far.

Only one, lol, for me the question is more like "Which one should I start with???"

How about I just list the ones in the last 2 months?

1. Buy a ATCS840, measure the case to see if a 140x3 rad will fit at the top, but fail to measure the width of the 5-1/4 bays... which turn out to be the part that blocks the rad.. Time to get out the hacksaw..

2. What? Remove the MB before using the hack saw? Would've been smart, apparently I'm not. I did cover everything very carefully before hand, by that alu dust is quite, well dust like, and I'm not 100% I could get it all out.. Bluetac was my friend here...

3. Attempt to burn in the Indigo extreme mounting solution, without considering the effects on my 4850x2.. time to order a new vid card..

3.5 (hmm should have put quick disconnects on my tubing on the graphic card section.. )

4. Ordered the Aquero multi-switch (and the aquero5) before asking if it would do what I need.. to be fair their site does say it's also a fan controller..

I've not hit 5 yet, but I can see that destroying the 6970 I just put in, when I mount he block from aquacomputer I just purchased, is right up there in contention.. or perhaps the graphic card will turn out to have a non-reference board with I pull the heatsink off.. (all my research says ver 1 reference design though.. so I should be right on this one.)

As my parents used to say, "Live and learn"... (I've got the living part down, but I seem to be having some minor issues with the learning part.)

Hahahaha, nice work dude.
Hope I don't do any of that when I get my first loop...

Just recently,

Finished building my new i7 system.
Watercooled CPU, video cards, PSU cable's all sleeved.

I double-checked that everything was plugged in correctly,
And that all my compression fittings were screwed on tightly.

I crossed my fingers and turned on my computer,
But it would not boot!

All the lights on the motherboard were on, My pump, Radiator and fans were working, So I knew there was nothing wrong with the PSU.

I went over every connection from the PSU to the motherboard, video cards etc, but everything was plugged in correctly.

The next day I realized that my ram was installed into the wrong slots.
I had the ram in slot's 2-4-6, they should have been in 1-3-5!

that's a design fault imho
i have seen a rad with little flaps of metal to stop the screw.
but why don't they all have this?
or better yet a cavity for a bolt to pass right through the rad.
surely wouldn't affect cooling perf much

Decided to cut tubing to length, too short.
Measured and tried again, too long, snip it a few cm, now too short.

WTF! hahaha i dunno my head was about explode, basic skills you learn when your 6 years old, called measuring wasn't working for me.

Was priming my Eheim 1048 pump in my very first closed loop PC, which was filled with a 1:1 mix of demineralised water and vodka (why not, lmao). My method of priming was to stick the intake pipe into the mixture, and at the other end of the loop that the intake would normally connect in to, suck the liquid through with my mouth.

Pipe to mouth, sucked the liquid in past the pump and flicked it on - completely underestimated the power of the pump, and had the vodka and water mixture pumped down my throat at a rate of 7.5L/minute.

you had your ratios all wrong!
shoulda been a 0.5:1 mix, water to vodka
lightweight!
