Electric Violin

I've been playing acoustic for a number of years now, but been really inspired to play the electric violin. Anyone have one? I got to play around with one today in store, and I really liked it! My heart's kinda set on the Yamaha SV-130, mainly because of my budget, but also because it's gotten pretty good reviews as well, for an entry level electric violin.

I've been looking to buy one online however, should I be wary of anything? It's just that in store they retail at around $1600 (instrument only), but from stores in America (which offer free shipping), I can probably grab one for about $800 (including the bow and case, which i would have to shell out extra for as well).

I understand that I'm going to need an amp, and probably a good effects pedal as well, any suggestions on those?
