there was a article on bit tech or something which said it had tweaking options in overclocking... but im not to sure if they will be limited or be vast.

either way im just going to stick my i7 rig and wait for my 980x to come back in stock (ive ordered it in a paid half)..cant wait for some 6 core fun...

Dosen't keep up with my 4.8GHz 24/7 overclock.

X79 will have bclk, multi as well as bclk multiplier overclocking. So plenty fun for all!

My i7 950 can run 4.8Ghz 24/7 at 1.376v

With 4 16 times gpu slots

If the 2600k was really superior to x58 beleive me i would own one it is more side grade than an upgrade, X79 will be an upgrade the EE with 6 cores will be superior to the 4 core little brother and 4 way gpu =win.

well yes and no, many aplications SB is faster and can overclock higher, only something that can utilise more than 8 threads will see an advantage, but you will gain multicard advantage.

there is little advantage in multi card, FPS means fuck all, latency is what is important and SLI/crossfire doesn't lower latency. its why lots of people feel like a game on SLI/crossfire is running like shit when they have 50FPS because there latency is the equivalent of 25FPS.

So you are suggesting 1 video card is superior to 4 cards in gaming?

Love my x58 have kept it for ages with the cheapest possible parts i could buy at the time and has lasted the test of time well considering it performs the same as any new chip in games pretty much!

+1

im keeping mine untill its too slow or i get a major upgrade itch..

im going to max this setup out hopefully before the end of the year (6 core,2 GPUs,12GB ram +extras) and then when the time comes move to something else...

only annoyance is i didnt get the UD9..well i couldnt afford it and it wasnt available at the time but still..

now that's subjective, but for AFR yes. you might end up with more frames but when those frames have high jitter and dont match your input then the experience doesn't feel very good.

the issue is the game engines are completely un-aware that two different cards are rendering two frames at the same time. the video card driver can smooth out the interval in whcih they are shown but not the point at which they start producing a scene.

BF3 is the first game as far as i know that operates differently for SLI/crossfire then a single card. how well it performs i guess we will have to wait for the final product to know for sure.

Let's hope they are a little more robust than previous Classys.
