I tried it twice to get windows to go to work and cant seem to get it to work.
First time the drive didn't seem formatted. Second time it put the files on I think as I can access the partitions etc but it did not make the small windows boot partition bootable for the bios. In windows the main drive showed as the main still in hdd manager. Might because I used a copied folder rather than a mounted iso etc or that the leaked build was missing the official boot information as I grabbed the custom boot version. Making the drive also takes its time about a hour to 2 hours. I tried a third time using the mounted iso and see if it requires access to the boot area of the media but same thing invalid partition table. I don't know what the issue is and references to booting seem to be about EFI firmware so might be EFI only. Nothing is telling me how this is meant to work even howtwos online describes command line parameters and not the control panel wizard. Spent 5 hours straight on this while watching the Olympics and seems I cannot do it or something is wrong etc. Some on sites have I think people have got it working but no idea why its not for me. If anyone does install do a check yourselves and see if you can get it going. You should notice your main hdd in computer management marked as inactive and your usb with drive letters.

I uninstalled after 3 days. Kept getting 'bsod' - at least they made it funny with a sad face, lol.
I think it was the intel wlan (6205), as it would randomly bluescreen after connecting to a wireless network. Its the first beta OS I've uninstalled since windows ME

but I did get constant annoying lock ups, that seemed to be related to video drivers.. I went back to consumer preview and haven't had a problem since.

I have just started to use Windows 8 RC and so far I am feeling that the OS is awesome for Phones, Tablets but not so good for my Desktop computer. I might find it better in time as I get use to it but at the moment I find myself getting annoyed trying to find things and to be honest I think this will hurt Windows 8. I think this will be a big issue for business moving to Windows 8 for there Desktop. I think Windows 7 future is looking good for staying as the MS default OS for most people Desktops.
That is just my thought.

I am keen to also use it on a dual screen setup as this might make it better to use with the traditional desktop on 1 screen and the Metro desktop on the other monitor (Touch might be good for this). I actually feel that using this with a dedicated touch screen and then a 2nd screen as (work screen as such) the std desktop could be really good. I think hardware changes like this might make Windows 8 better and I am now keen to think about how to setup PC to make the most out of Windows 8. I really keen to see what the manufactures come up with epically with touch screens.

I'm loving W8 now.. and RTM seems even better than the Release Preview.
Running it on a quite old now Dell Vostro 1500 with a T7500 Core2Duo (Centrino Duo?) with 3GB of RAM (and I've just stuck a SSD in it) - it's at least as fast (and actually seems way faster) than my new i5 Dell work lappy on W7 |

Has anyone else noticed how much faster transfers to USB devices works? I don't know, I can't be bothered doing bench tests etc but I swear stuff transfers much faster than it did with windows 7, on the same USB 2.0 hardware too, has anyone else noticed this or is it just me? I know there are physical limitations to the transfer speed but previously I never got stuff transferred so fast. |

Well I think it will grow on me W8 and I have decided that I will set a laptop up as soon as I get my copy through my MS Partner network. I will take this along with me for the Partner conference in September.

The leaked final version "N" (enterprise) cannot be activated, and that means it will not allow you to personalise the installation. It's a bit annoying, because you cannot utilize the full potential of the new GUI. I also realize more and more now that switching between the new, touch optimized GUI (formerly called Metro) and "desktop" is like switching between the "new world" and a "Windows 98" environment from the early times of of the web era. This "switching" isn't optimal. I know, many people have complained about this before, but now working with the RTM I have to agree. Otherwise, nothing to complain and for the speed gain alone, I would change.

Just installed it myself and after an hour, time to delete.. Couldn't install AMD display drivers nor my sound card.. Maybe in 6 months when there are finalised drivers and not preview versions..

Just got around to installing it myself. Nothing great about it so far, to me at least. Haven't gotten around to installing any apps yet so we will see. Nothing to really want to make me change from 7 though.
And no Aero
