Default Which design to choose?

I got these designs done for an album cover, but I'm not sure which one is best. The concept was to have people appearing in one dimension, from another.

Any advice will be welcomed.

Text is nearly illegible. Whilst the idea of text 'zooming' is nice, the execution could be much better.

better; i like the inverted characters; how about inverting that half of the background, as well?

image

green and orange are too random; try using it in the background or something.

I'm not a designer, just a consumer.

I can't read the text at all on the first one.

On the second one, I can only read the first part of the text.

Gut reaction - I like the second one best. (But I feel that the white man shouldn't have the stars showing, he should be opaque.)

Hopefully it was done for free.

Dreadful, the lot of them. One and two, the name isn't clear enough, very bad since it's the first thing people will see. The 3rd one looks like "My first CD Cover".

The angle of the light is also a bit strange as it seems to be circular, but I'm guessing the 2 people walking down it are supposed to go with it. Doesn't make sense, they'd need to be on an angle or leaning if that were the case.

Why not put up a competition on www.designcrowd.com?

As said above they look very amateurish

I think OP is working for client?
I don't think it's worth paying $200 for what seems to be an indie band's album cover.

Yes, it's certainly indie. I'm trying to do it myself, without any skills. I think with the advice given here, I will be able to make it better.

Might help, I didn't realise you were doing it yourself. If you can illustrate it's a big bonus, the name of the album above all should be easy to read.

You can also search for "cd cover" etc, but you'll most likely get a bunch of PSD templates and that sort of thing returned

In all seriousness though... you are better off using stock images rather than trying to mask out of fiddle with photos (like your silhouettes seem to show).

and pick key images to start your concepts with. I like the direction of the warp field, but try and envisage something more modern.

Like This

Or This

Maybe things that represent crossing boundaries... like a door way or window.

Like this one...

Cheers,
Samson
