Wouldn't that just bump it down to USB2 speeds? Purely an assumption.

No but I messed up ..... downloaded the BIOS but something stopped me from updating .... so I rebooted and had a look and I have revision 2 of that motherboard and they are listed as A B C etc against numbers for the original motherboard.... I really hate flashing

So I have now flashed it to "C" and after fixing all my settings in the BIOS and making sure it would boot to Windows rebooted once more and hit the F12 key and there sitting at the top of the hard drives was the Samsung Story Hard drive

Now I will try installing 11.04 on it

well it booted to GRUB menu but 11.04 wouldnt complete booting and dropped to a shell, tried safe mode and this is the message :

ALERT! /dev/disk/by-uuid/d6f80de3-2f83-414b-b994-ccf451143616 does not exist

so the drive can now at least be booted from but linux is having an issue talking to it boot wise

if you can get a basic shell you should see if that device is actually listed or mountable

if you can mount the device using that ID or a different ID, you may just need to reconfigure grub, or you may be able to start init and boot from a different device from the shell prompt - pretty sure you can do that with suse anyway

Shells and all that are beyond me, I am a windows user that plays around a bit with linux and anything beyond a mouse pointer and click is beyond me
