We should make one in the warcom warehouse/out the front.
We could all take shifts at watching it over a day and then eat it for dinner. Yummy. |

Before I do buy it - are we sure this is the whole unit or is it just the dome? i.e. is this item for $270 the same as the the $699 one at BBQ Galore?

It's the whole hog.
Your next question: "Do I get the 18.5" or cough up the extra for the 22.5?"

It's almost $100 more. The 18.5" is plenty big enough for me, especially if I can run my Weber kettle at the same time - butt and ribs in the WSM, chicken and sausage in the kettle.

If you use it for the next 10 years that's $10 extra a year
![]() Nah, get the size you think is most appropriate to your needs, I have a habit of getting into the mindset "If you're going to do something, you might as well completely overdo it"

think of it like buying a bed.
you've seen the king size. once you go home to sleep on the pitiful queen you bought you find it hard to get to sleep. besides it really is a luxury item - so why not be luxurious instead of average? do they make an even bigger size?

Get the larger one. If you are going to cook with indirect heat, you need as much space as possible. Indirect heat means that the food is not sitting over the coals - so the coals are off to one side of the barbie, and your food on the other. This immediately cuts your usable area by half. Also - the larger Weber has a taller dome, so you can do things like smoke whole turkeys in it.

Hmph. My butcher has no idea WTF a butt is, so I guess I can't order one until I find a butcher who can do one... or my butcher learns

It's pretty much the top part of the shoulder, about 3-5kg worth including bone depending on the size of the pig. Print off something like this and ask him to replicate it.
Hahah... it looks like I should get an amazon referral link to the Weber Smoky Mountain in this thread. I've already asked the CFO if we could get one but she doesn't think it'd fit on the balcony. C'mon! We've only got two BBQ's and a two-wok wok burner on it!

![]() I'll go back with a diagram or something. I like my butcher... he gives me great pork bellies (and makes sure I only get the female pigs) He did look at me funny at first...
