Sabnzbd+ - Simply the best NZB client. Does NZBs only, plays nicely with the following:
Sickbeard - Like TV? Sickbeard will sort it out and find your stuff for you.
Couchpotato - Enjoy Movies but never remember to find their release dates? CP has you covered.

Combine those with a decent provider, and a NZB source (I'd reccomend NZBMatrix's VIP account or NZB.su for a free option) and your laughing.

Combine these programs with the built in integration with XBMC, and you’re on your way to a complete package that you have full control over but is very heavily automated to remove the grunt work.

Providers i can recommend are Astraweb for Unlimited, Blocknews for Block accounts and FrugalUsenet for another unlimited option. BN/Frugal don't use the same servers as Astraweb, so they are a good secondary option in case of retention/completion problems at Astraweb.
I love you so much right now. been using usenet with sab for years and never knew about the automation apps. just set them up and it makes my media centre complete. its epic. thankyou.

The only positive thing my approach has over yours is I don't need to be on the machine that has sab installed to do my downloading. I can jump on nzbmatrix and login from any machine at all. And in the case of a NAS, you don't have the ability to web browse from it.

You dont have to be, you set the ip address of the sabnzbd server and away you go The only downside is if your download lots of files...damn API limit on nzbmatrix :/

I am having issues with nzbstatus. Tried using the API/username/PW from sabnzb AKA my thundernews account User/PW and sabs own API and it did not work. Then tried nzbmatrixes user/PW/API and it did not work either. Just goes straight to error invalid login.

you put the url/ip address that the sabnzbd server runs on (so for me its http://192.168.0.x/sabnzbd), the api from sabnzbd and the username and password you use to login to sab. You only put sabnzbd info into it. If you dont have a login for sab, i assume you dont put on in?

^ this.

I started using FBNSS's methods a couple of years ago and have been in heaven ever since. Although i just use RSS feeds from matrix, it appears he's changing the game again here. SB/CP look awesome, im a bit retarded with my search strings in SAB and get emails all day from my HTPC telling me it's downloaded the same show in a million different formats lol.

Ignore everyone but FatBoyNotSoSlim

What can I say.... I just found a system that was easy to setup, easy to run, and best of all ready for me when I come home from work.

As in, I got home tonight, and the latest eps of HIMYM/House/Castle etc. are sitting in XBMC waiting to be watched.

Agree with this, the only thing I want to add is that I use nzbs.org. When I'm away from home, I just have to add the nzb to my cart, and sab at home is able to pick it up and download it automatically.

What automation are you people using to have XBMC update the library when new files are added to the relevant folder? (Or simply update daily)

Mediaportal scans the library automatically and parses the metadata
