lol well put

honkies would hang their expensive dslrs on their necks if they could
always amuses me when a soccer-dad uses his big pro camera and lens to take lame photos of his kid at a shopping arcade using onboard flash

also notice the d700 vs 5d colour temperature rendition

As much as I'd like a "better" camera then my 40D, I'm holding out 'till Canon makes a DSLR that takes photographs as well as their older G9 does.

I'm certain that my 40D doesn't take photomograffs as good as the G9 can (first two images).........

Have you actually read the OP from the thread those pics come from?

Quote:
Skin structure is almost completly destroyed on the G9
Skin smoothness is terrible, with more blotches and uneven transfers
Maximum aperture is f8 on ISO80 and that's a bit limited for the strobes we use in the studio
Noise at ISO100 is compared to even a DSLR noisy, ISO80 is nice looking but the Leaf on ISO200 is MUCH cleaner
AF in the studio was difficult because the live view monitor is very slow to update due to the very low light to focus
Files are rather soft and need sharpening, which introduces more noise
The reason those pics look nice is due to the good lighting setup and composition, not the camera used.

Your 40D would take equal and better shots than a G9 if used correctly...

Memo to self: When posting consider using emoticons occasionally, this will help to ensure that other people reading your posts can get the subtle humour or sarcasm embedded in them !!

Sorry guys !!!

*Blush*

My point was (and now I guess you realise it ) was that while I'm a gear-whore (like I suspect many of use here are ) I realise that no matter how good my gear is, for the foreseeable future it'll be able to take far better photographs then I can !!

While I suspect it'll be a long time before I find the limits of my 40D, for some inexplicable reason that still doesn't stop me lusting after the 5D-III

Austen.

(More gear then talent....)
