You can buy one of my Ones for $129, I'll buy that to replace it

I bought an 1100i when they first came out a couple of years ago. Good remote, but is severley limited by the IR, when the device was designed for the US marked as an RF unit.

Just makes it a little harder to use with the macros, but if you want bling, then you can't go past the little square touchscreen remote.

That being said, even the missus can use it.

I find the idea of using a square touch screen as a remote to be a pain in the ass, haven't tried it though.

And for that price, it really should be RF.

Why would the 1100i be RF when it's designed to replace your existing IR remotes? How would it communicate with your existing components that use IR?

I bought one from LogitechShop for $195 recently and it's been an absolute breeze to setup, even individually configuring macros for each activity takes less than a minute.
The IR works from miles away and because it has one at either end, you don't even have to be pointing it in the direction of your components. The menus are easy to read and access which gives it high WAF, as mentioned.

I haven't tried the learning facility because I'm yet to come across something it doesn't support out of the box.

totally disagree. I had a 555 and it would squeak when you pressed the buttons, it was flimsy and the channel and volume up down buttons wore back to the plastic after about six months.

Sure the 555 did the same job as my 1000, but function is no where near enough justification to cheap out if the rest of your system has already had some money invested in it.

Yeah the high end harmony remotes really do feel a lot better built than the entry level units

That's a pretty good price for that unit. I was thinking about the 1100 but I'd find it hard to get used to a non traditional shape remote I reckon.

I got the same deal on an 1100i, replaces a very old 515 which had a couple of unresponsive buttons but has served well for many years. WAF is high, 6 nice big touch icons from http://www.iconharmony.com/ per page makes it very easy to change channels, programming was pretty simple if you are familiar with the "logitech" way of doing things.

I was actually starting to get a couple of unresponsive buttons on my 525 also.....so decided it was time to go. I'll keep it as a second, or a backup : )

I reckon the 1100 would be overkill for me, although that price is great and definitely has bling factor

It was a toss up between the 1100i at 195 and harmony one at 165 or there abouts, the 1100 isnt as big as you would think and is a little awkward to hold in the beginning, but it quickly grows on you
A mate did grab a 650 for $39 and that looked nice as well. For those that didnt see the sale logitechshop.com.au
