Default Samsung Galaxy S - bricked to death!

Hi guys.
I tried to update my SGS to 2.3.3 Android and it's bricked to death.

Won't enter download or recovery mode at all.

It's still in the 12 month warranty period.

Now my question is:
Will warranty still cover this?
does anyone know the time period of the replacement?
Is there a chance i could get a new phone?

I have called samsung support countless times but they won't answer my questions correctly, they just say (call the repair center in VIC)
So i call the VIC repair center and they just tell me to send the phone to them.

All i want to know is... am i going to be wasting my time sending my phone to the repair center? I need to know!

what are you going to do with it otherwise? use it as a bookmark?

send it for warranty repair, if they decline it, then ask the questions youre asking.

I'm just worried i'll send the phone and then they will send a enormous bill for the repair

basically, will i get stung? or will i be fine?

And i was thinking more along the lines of selling it as parts rather than a book mark if this warranty crap doesn't work out

First time you've sent anything in for repairs? When you send something in for warranty repairs and if it requires extra cost, they will let you know. You have the option to let them go ahead with it or not.

So as sanjay has said, worry when they decline warranty repair or if they charge you a fortune to repair it.

also, starting a thread saying 'ive bricked my phone, should i sent it into warranty' probably isnt the smartest thing to do, warranty people and company reps do check these threads and can put two-and-two together (where otherwise they would have no idea how a bricked phone became bricked).

Well i used the samsung software with the firmware provided on their website.
The flash completed successfully but the phone didn't boot.

oh geez, if you were updating to the official samsung gingerbread firmware with the official samsung tool obtained from the official samsung website to do so, i cant see how they would refuse a warranty claim.

not exactly rocket science logic there.
