Finally my next build
This time not a scratch build, but a "normal" casemod.

Before i came in touch with the world of modding and watercooling i played a lot with HTPC's
Back then i fell in love with all the cases of Origen AE.
Every time i was on their site, i just had to watch the topmodel.
I knew it was just too expensive for me, also personally i think the 12" touchscreen is useless for an htpc.
But still ... it looks so nice....

Because i won some prizes with "L3p D3sk" in the Coolermaster compo,
and because it was time to prepare my next build i took the step to go for the Origen S21T.
Also because i wanted to build something that is more easy to take to lans then my previous build ^^
Off course this all wouldn't have been possible without the help of Freddy from Highflow.nl
I have also chosen this case because i didn't see it being modded much yet.

So it won't become an Htpc but a real watercooled gamer pc












Received the case 2 days ago.
Just had to see how the touchscreen moves and what the red Enermax fans look like in the case

Wonderful stuff for modders, also if you want to find out what colours would be best



The idea was to make a complete red theme, but im in doubt now.

looks promising mate, but IMO ditch the led ropes they are a bit tacky. the red appolish fans look the goods though.

yeah thats true, tho don't know what the hell i'm doing on a US forum. not to knock 'ocau', i do prefer the colour scheme at 'hardocp' (black), easier on the eyes.

You're right i should quit yabbering and chop chop mod on
I'm doin a lot of think work and measuring and disassembling now.
Tomorrow probably some stuff will arrive so i can measure things in better.
Also wondering if i should raise the mainboard tray or not.

 

you'd probably know better than most, most mod work is planning and prep. i reckon maybe 10-20% is actual 'doing'.

i've been planning my mod for almost 2 months now and i haven't touched the inside of my case yet. partly to do with fact the case i want to mod is the one i'm using to browse the forums. the other half is waiting for fucking amd to release their new 8 core chip (providing it's any good...). had they released when they said they would, i'd be half-way thru by now.
i must of spent $600-$800 AUD on equipment and parts (fittings, rads, sleeving, tools etc all of which is strewn across several boxes littering the living room floor) & not one dollar yet on anything with a transistor on it.

course it'll have nothing on your 'from scratch' desk mod.

it there not enough clearance underneath you MB for cabling of something?

 

Well this kind of case is completely new for me too.
The desk had atleast 1 big space where i could hide cables.

This htpc case doesnt have any space left with watercooling and this hardware.
And no cable management at all .
It is 22cm high so i thought maybe i could raise the mainboardtray so i can hide some things there.

Ahh well i'll see, im not in a hurry

 

neither am i (in a hurry). i don't really need to upgrade/mod my pc. tonnes of life (touch wood) left in my c2q rig. however the longer the delay (amd BD), the more i keep finding myself buying more shit online for my PC.

mans gotta have a hobby right?

regarding your htpc, if the case was perfect, you'd need another hobby...

i'm crashing, 6am here. now chop, chop. more progress, more pics, less gas-bagging...

The pump!

This will be the place for the Koolance controller for the pump and fans. I will remove the logo by the way




Tested it before i disassemble it.
It works




Pretty compact.







Couldn't get the tubes off without cutting them.




Getting the top on it.




And the heat sink. (Yes... only for the looks )




Done !






And a small movie of the controller in action. Maybe i will disable that beep, or atleast make it less loud.

question... are you working on a wooden table top? if you've got a missus in the house, she'd take your head off for scratching the surface.

i've got a massive dinning room table but it's mine so the gf can't 'hurt' me when i use it as a workspace. tho i do lay down towels before doing any work.

what's the flow rate/head on that pump. looked a little weak until you turned it up to 10.

 

That pump is awesome man. The speed of it looks great when turned up now i can't wait to get some water cooling happening with something like that
