Default External Plant Hire database/software?

Hi all,

I’ve been handed the external plant hire tender at work to look after, this has previously been looked after by other departments within my organisation.

Basically I’m looking to see if there is a better way of doing things when compared with the way we are currently looking after external plant hire. Currently, our tenders request an Excel spreadsheet with the plant item, GVM, price etc tabulated in a standardised format, which is then dumped into a Microsoft Access database, which the plant hire officer then picks the item from when a user requests it. This system has several deficiencies, particularly in that the Access database forces the user to pick where the external plant is to be hired from, rather than automatically selecting the cheapest hire rate.

I was wondering if anyone here did this sort of stuff? Is there a software package or system that you are using to simplify things, or are we all running on internal/individual specific software/systems?

Something like Wennsoft maybe, they custom make thes kinds of things.
Used to use them at my old compant, US based can be a pain. But good result.

We've built something like you are referring too for a construction company with a scaffolding requirement.

Shouldn't be too hard to tailor it for your needs (depending on the specifics of course)
