Thumbs down Geekhack Group buys are now .........

Yep, some idiots at Geekhack looks at 104 key-cap prices at Taobao and think it will apply to US made goods as well. I just say go and spend your money at Taobao then.

I was so enthusiastic about Group Buy 4 but it's generated into a huge mess where the penny-pinchers are trying to scrape away 2 cents from their order and complaining like hell about it.

Since trying to deal with the R4 G.B. I've now decided it's better to buy ready made Key-sets off the GH Classifieds. Then you'll get pics and what not.

Yeah, I bailed from R4 as well. Too long and too complicated.

I really admire the guy that's coordinating it- such a massive task. I think he's bitten off more than he can chew though.

Some of the smaller group buys are still okay though. I'm part of the meme key group buy and its going great.

My only problem now is that I still really want my Vim Esc keycap, but it's nowhere to be found :-(

I'm going to have heaps of longcats, lol. i got in just as they were suggesting doubling everyones longcat order, so i said i'd get 2 after the doubling, then when the doubling happened i ended up with 4 lol. Given how much PMs and crap the GB organiser would've been juggling, i decided not to bother him over a couple of bucks. So obviously i need to buy more boards to fit them all

I don't know of any. Seems to be too much of a niche market for anyone to make one.

If you were a DIY type you could always 'create' one yourself. Cannibalise a g15 or similar screen into a mech.

that sounds like a lot of work. Just whip up a quick program to play click samples through your speakers for every key press

Nothing on the g15 is needed or missed. look at the lcd in front of you instead. i though id go nuts without it but i actually got better in my game not looking at the bs. you need ping and temps? Use rivatuner

Want an ultra cheap mech? PM me!!

I have two Cherry keyboards that are sitting around here doing nothing. Whichever two people are the first to PM me can have one each for $5 + postage. Just taking up space at my place.

Model: G81-8040LUBUS

Both work well and are pretty clean.

These are mech boards...but they use the cherry MY switches. Most people don't like MY switches but there are some that do. I hated them at first and then kind of got used to them. The keycaps aren't anything special but they are fairly thick and should be MX stem compatible.

And what's with that dickhead poster on GH with 70 million posts posting shit like he's king of the place (ripster I think his name is)? I wish there was a way to ignore posters on that board, he's really killing the vibe. If you look up 'keyboard warrior' in the dictionary you'd see his profile
