The OP are choosing between red and black, in that case Red is better.

Black is stiffer than blue(about 10g difference, and about 20g~15g compared to reds) and IMO will be too stiff for long session unless you got strong hands.

It is very hard to NOT bottom out on Red, and it is noisier than black when bottoming out given the same force of keypress because there is less resistance from spring.

I am typing on one at moment, got some silencing pad for office use.

I decided just to bite the bullet and get a Mechanical keyboard

I just ordered the Ducky DK9008 with Red LEDs and CherryMX Brown switches at PCCG.

I had a hard time deciding between black, blue or brown without having any chance to try them I went with brown as it seems to be a good medium between black and blue.

Got to admit, that colour scheme is horrendous.

Agreed.

Looks like it's either a kid's keyboard or one which is used to teach old people how to type.

Nice, the browns are a safe bet. I've tried the blacks/blues/browns now and the browns are by far the best imho. Would really love to try the reds but I think I'm more excited by the idea of getting red's as opposed to actually using them

That would be me and it arrived this morning.

55g is nice! Might take some getting used to because it is a bit bouncy but I'm liking it

I also got my 55g topre courtesy of tycn...First topre but digging the sound its makes. Makes a thumping sound rather than a 'piercing sound' like from a blue switch.

edit: goddamn, elitekeyboards is asking for $110 for topre keycaps. Anyone got any alternatives for white topre keycaps for a much cheaper price lol

This is my second RF board, I had a variable weight 86 (same as yours but TKL) but I do like the heavy uniform better... time will tell
But yeah, you can't beat the sound and feel of topre, it's sublime

waiting on a set of those too, and it may be ages before they get stock

you can't get them cheaper or anywhere else I don't think...

Even on geekhack, there was a group buy of those topre sets a while back and it worked out to be about the same

Also with EK you are adding about $50 shipping for those

Good to hear your boards arrived safely. 55g doesn't get enough credit.

So far pretty happy with it, but it is missing a number of the o-ring dampeners,
Just thought I would update:
The service of WASD has been excellent, they have dealt with my o-ring issue very well.

Droooooooolllllzzzzzz I'm still have small issues with my Variable weight. If someone wanted to trade for a 35g id would. TKL of course.

As much as i like this Topre the Brown and Red MX are lighter. Not better just lighter.

i think its the spring back that makes it seem heavier. It its partly due to my typing style which is shit.

All in all though i love this KB and unless its a direct trade i aint selling this. Ive sold to many Kbs lately and its kinda annoying to do it all over again.

If i type really fast its not an issue if I'm fumbling the topre weight its noticeable.

Definitely, I think you can go a heavier topre than a cherry, I think 55g is just 5g lighter than blacks so I was a bit anxious that it was going to be a work out, but the switch type makes all the difference, I don't feel like I am fighting with a spring on this board like I did with blacks.

45 may well be the sweet spot though, but the 55 has a lovely pop and bounce

Anyway this one is going to have to stick around for a while, kind of over buying and selling on gear so quickly
