Methinks you've gone about it the wrong way, but made the right choice. Reds are nice especially if you do a lot of gaming.

Loving my new ducky with red switches. Like how the shift, backspace and space bar are harder to press. Feels much more comfortable. Do all keyboard do it like this?

anything MX pretty much, but just be aware that the profile is slightly different for all caps made by signature plastics (which is just about all novelty doubleshot caps) so your top row keys - esc etc - will be slightly lower than the keys on filco/ducky

it's not much, when I get some daylight and time I'll post up a pic of what those keys look like on a keyboard so you can see the different profile

They'll usually specify what row keys they are if you're buying them individually. e.g http://www.wasdkeyboards.com/index.p...k-keycaps.html

It's a bit nasty when you're trying to clean your kb that has blank caps and forget which keys belong to which row

Hi all... forgive me for not reading the whole 385 pages of this thread... but I'm looking at getting a mechanical keyboard, however whilst i like the feel of my housemates razer, i cant stand the clicking sound. I like the Razer BlackWidow Ultimate Ninja too but can't stand the price....

Is there a cheaper SILENT mechanical keyboard out there?

Cheers

EDIT: with backlights?

They're relatively quiet, it's just that you're not used to typing without bottoming out on the keys and having a rubber base to dampen it out. Hence the mechanical ending up sounding louder than it's supposed to. Ideally you shouldn't be bottoming out when typing.

Blue keyswitches are clicky, but they're not really loud, especially on some mechanical keyboards that I've seen lately. Brown for almost the same feel without the sharp feel and audible actuation click.

With backlights, Ducky.

Best back-lit silent mech would be a Ducky 9008G2 with Browns, and white LEDs (much nicer than blue or orange).

The colour of LEDS are basically up to you. I've got those three colours and because I am not stuck with one keyboard all the time, I can say having multiple colours is good.

I get sick of just one colour consistently blaring in my face. It's far better to swap different coloured keyboards every day or so.

I just bought a coolermaster pro with cherry mx blacks. Expecting it on Monday. But after reading many pages of this thread i am starting to regret it already. I should if sucked it up and spent the extra to get the ducky.
