Smile OCZ Vertex II 80GB model warning,

Hi Guys,

I realise Vertex 2 80GB model is fairly old now I just wanted to warn anyone considering still buying one, I recently took mine back to scorptec and they were very good about giving me on the spot store credit as apparently these units have a 30% return rate.

The issue I had was that the drive would randomly drop out, completely disappear from the controller, I would see this happen even at bios. You can imagine this is a problem when your operating system is on that drive. I basically stopped using it for two months out of frustration and eventually got around to taking it back and they swapped it for store credit at it's original value of $209 (currently it's sitting at about $120 in stores).

With the store credit they gave me plus store credit from one other return I bought three Hitachi Coolspins and completed my 10gb usable (just under actually) raid-5 array.
