Hi,
Just wondering if anyone here has been able to create a RAID volume > 2048GB on an Intel ICH10R. I have a spare HP 8000 Elite that I've kitted out with 3x 2TB HDDs. Google results have suggested this may be possible outside the OROM using the Windows RAID app, and that it may not be bootable. I've updated the BIOS to the current 1.10. I was just looking to use this box (small HP desktop) to act as a backup server for a couple of lab hosts. It would probably be running with Linux or ESXi (for native iscsi/vmfs) and wanted to have the storage available as a RAID 0 volume. I don't really care if it is bootable or not, can use a USB key.

Besides being nuts using R-0 for that size, yest, the chipset does support larger than 2TB arrays. The sucky part is that they have to be carved up to 2TB or smaller partitions for MBR partitions to allow Win7 to see it when installing to be bootable. If you want larger (don't have a clue why) then the array must be formatted in GPT before hand then the Win 7 install disk will see it. Win 7 can't format in GPT on install.
