I've got an Abit BX6 that I could sell you, can throw in some RAM and a CPU, an old hard drive, and I think I might have a TNT2 or similar, maybe a PCI sound card. Don't have a case or power supply to spare but it should still work with a modern case/PSU, or you can probably find a beige one second hand or at the tip shop easily enough.

Let me know if you're interested and I'll try and put something together...

oh precious nostalgia, how I love thee.

Council clean-up needs to arrive soon so that I can get my hands on one of these beautifully beige pieces of history

A bit of an old thread here, let's try to put it back to life again.
Since a few months, I'm more and more interested in old hardware. Already I digged up some old Atari's and a Toshiba laptop out of the cellar together with my first 486 PC and some loose parts, but I also got some stuff from the attic of my parents house.
Some of these things are a bit dirty ( were stocked in a dusty old attic for several years ), but I hope to clean them up in the short future.

Photostream old hardware

Guess I need an EGA screen for the 286, not?

Great stuff, that sound blaster value you have there was my first ever sound card. I distinctly remember it arriving in the mail and my amazement when I heard it for the first time - I don't think I'd heard one before. I couldn't believe my ears - and that was using those crappy battery powered speakers people used back then.

I'd love to find a complete boxed one of those bad boys again.

Yes, same here. This was also my first soundcard. Before I had to play Doom with PC speaker - "acoustics" ;-) .
Together with the card, I bought myself Escom subwoofers ( also visible somewhere in the photostream ) with extra bass boost. From that moment, shooting Aliens in Doom or playing Day of the Tentacle Talkie was far more fun :-) .
Unfortunately, I don't have the inlay of the box anymore ( don't remember if there was one though ).

Nice bit of kit you have there! The original IBM working okay?

Sound Blaster boxed sets are awesome

I used to have those speakers you have on your mini tower Mine were branded Juster hahah.

No need for EGA, hard enough to find, the VGA can emulate the EGA anyway

I reckon EGA games definitely do look a lot better on an EGA than a VGA monitor... if you can find one grab it! but yes they aren't exactly thick on the ground.

Here's my 286/EGA build http://forums.overclockers.com.au/sh...d.php?t=978223

Alas, it's not a real IBM. I even don't remember anymore were I got this 286. The printplates are lying ( do I write this correctly ) loose in the case.

Those Juster / Escom speakers were pretty good, not? :-)

Yeah, I already looked at this thread and found it really cool. Civ and Duke Nukem are awesome to see on the hardware they were build for :-) .
Hope I can get my old 286 back to life just like you did.
A friend of my, her father, had a small museum in his houde. Perhaps I can find an EGA monitor via her :-).

Am still going through my boxes of hardware. Plenty of stuff going to be put in a "free to good home" thread shortly. Craptonne of stuff to get rid of too, thus far at least one 50 litre box full of things.

No clean-up actions for me anymore in the near future. The problem is, when I'm going thru old stuff, I sometimes have the tendency to do it a bit too intensive. A year of two ago, I threw away an old 386 and a Pentium Pro.
Will not make that fault again...

Sounds familiar. Got rid of a lot of crap, though when it comes to considering getting rid of my sparcstation 10 clone or any other obscure stuff (digital alpha 500, ibm ppro dual, etc), i balk at the thought of getting rid of it and look at other things i can get rid of as i'd almost never be able to replace them.

A Powermac G5? Nice gift :-) .
I'm looking to get my hands on a Commodore 64. Found one with the tape and a diskdrive, with originial monitor and a bunch of floppy disks.
As a kid, I wanted a Commodore, but did not get one. Time to make up for this.
