Just buy the recommended items and off you go. Try not to die.

It just takes time, play against bots learn the flow of the game. It's rewarding once you finally get it.

Not knowing half of the DotA heroes is roflicious when playing. Definitely enjoying this more than HoN (not that I hate HoN but I just feel the feel of this game). Skill shots are easier to hit because projectile speeds are about the same in both games but heroes definitely aren't as nimble which makes potm and pudge far more useful than in HoN. Venomancer seems way more imba than slither and I loved natures prophet!!! Although I don't really understand his ulti, I've been using it similar to a plague, in a team fight plop the ult in the middle of everyone..... He is stupid strong though with a port and a stun.

dota2 is IDENTICAL to HoN.. graphics and all.. just it's slightly more user friendly with the shopping interface.

Its actually so so different...

You might say HoN is identical to Dota, I mean its a new game engine the dynamics make for a very different game.

More accurate to say Dota2 feels like dota, because it does... Since it was run on the War3 engine it originally had ALOT of limitations. They have made sure to keep general feeling on the new engine and they have nailed it.

HoN is alot faster, feels bit more arcadey. Love HoN but Dotes is boss.

but their heroes are identical copies (yes i know HoN got them mostly from dota), abilities and all.

i've just played 5 dota2 games, really seriously identical to HoN...

lol yeah but what do you expect from a Dota clone?

So yes HoN has most of Dota heroes renamed/reskinned. And now Dota2 has all the classic heroes that everyone knows and loves from the original but with same names/spells.

Playing HoN for years I still call all item/heroes by there Dota names, so going back to Dota2 is win. I kinda get what you mean but you can't really expect things to be different it wouldnt be dotes then would it.

been playing hon for years and dota2 really is magical, its as if the developers have been able to manufacture 'clunk' and package it up with a dota2 sticker on, it really is uncanny

yeah I guess 6-7 years of the game being out isn't enough time for some people...
