Why have i not seen this thread before. Awesome stuff. Digging the guitar one

Out of curiosity, how hard is it to get stuff to sell on threadless? Do you need to go through major retarded facebook/twitter/friendspam promotion, or is it left to some judges.

Thanks mate.

Well, it's not so much getting it to 'sell' but rather 'print'. The public votes, but ultimately it's the threadstaff that decide which designs are most sellable and therefore will print those.

So with friendspam, that's nice and all that jazz, but in my opinion that sort of thing is a more of a strategic marketing gig by Threadless to obtain more traffic onto the site.

For sure it's pretty sweet (less our current exchange rate)

Ever thought of doing some sort of infographic with different guitars models and the famous artist that plays them / who are associated with?

eg. Gibson ES-355 & BBKing etc, could even do like sillohette of famous guitarist matched to guitar.

Quite a few infographic style designs seem to get chosen..

Yeah I did - actually that was how the design initially began. I researched all the classic/hall of fame artists and went from there but I came across several hurdles - multiple colours, textures (a lot of them are known for relics/beat up guitars) and body shapes (a huge bulk of them used the same guitar ie. Fender) which became repetitive as the only difference would be the colours so I settled for something a little more universal that many musos can relate to without being restricted to particular artists.

However, I may revisit the idea of hall of famers down the track if I can think of a different approach to tackle it.

Cheers man. That one, unfortunately not (it's a tough competition there).

May 11th though I'm happy to say I'll have a new tee released there

New sub is finally up for scoring at Threadless if you guys can be bothered to spare a moment (vote by first checking the ‘email me if this gets made!’ box followed by ‘5’). Cheers

I'd love to see something original, not derivative.

Fair point, though I do create art based on my interests/passion and I do approach designing for Threadless more on a marketing perspective (as in I design based on what I believe is most marketable for them to profit from).
