Default Counter-Strike: Global Offensive

Reports of an upcoming and as-yet-unnannounced Counter-Strike game have appeared around the Internet within the last hour. Posts on Facebook and the Steam forums with input from confirmed Valve employees join Twitter rumblings, eSports discussion and a Reddit thread from playtesters in a frenzy of as-yet-unconfirmed information and discussion. More information about the game will reportedly be released tomorrow...

Built on the Source engine (the most up-to-date, presumably), new guns, new 'nades, same maps (?). More info on its way tomorrow, apparently.

i read molotov cocktail as a possible new grenade, now that would be interesting in a 32 player map with everyone spamming it

I'm looking forward to Nuclear Dawn. A new CS is interesting but i wonder....

Given the competition i wonder if a game like CS today would meet the same amount of demand as it used to.

The Reddit thread has a playtester saying it's designed for 5v5. Very much aimed at the eSports market, then - hopefully it's not screwed up for the people like me that enjoy the 16v16 kill-everything-in-sight maps.

Added a bit more Reddit info. Seems like it'll be halfway between Source and 1.6.

Counter Strike 2 has been whispered for a few years now. Be good if it had a major makeover and a tad more realism.

I'm happy with it to remain minimalistic to keep the professional and competitive edge as with 1.6 and CSS compared to the spray-fest of COD games.

NO, realism is killing 'fun' in video games.

Yes, although cs was pretty spray heavy if you could control recoil. I loved the minimalistic map style of cs 1.6, new games have too much fucking stuff everywhere.

CS is still the most played game on steam, if it is done right there's no reason why it couldn't be the new premier e-sport fps game.

nobody gives a shit about COD and Battlefield games a year after release, the counter-strike series is still going strong.
