Because they're all screaming "console port! fail game! hats! matchmaking! herpa derpa derp!" like the game is out already. It literally only got announced in the past couple of days and the accusations are flying.
The "competitive" players on the forum are a bad joke as well, so against any minute change to the game... For example, the HUD. It got a transparent background and some of the icons moved a little. They complain... In short, crybabies, whiners, and generally anal retentive EDIT: And that was only in the CSS beta, it's even in the actual game yet!!

Will be getting this regardless of how good / bad it is. I hear it's more like Condition Zero was to 1.6 rather than a complete redo.

The part where game server admins spend every minute of their waking lives spectating to collect evidence for cheat bans.
![]() http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Id-lBzz3Q9k <--- OptusNet Natural Selection back then... *shudder* There is no bloody way i'll administer game servers again. We collectively banned thousands of idiots like that each month. I recall the CS admins had far more problems with cheats since the game was more popular.

I used to be involved with AusPB (cheating ban list), and I never thought it was that bad. So many people reported players that were clearly not cheating. I agree it could definitely be better than it was, but I've been playing for a long time and the only time it was really bad was for a while after CS went retail. I didn't play NS very much so couldn't comment on that. Last edited by Velicoma; 15th August 2011 at 2:27 PM. |

It was pretty bad on Optus/Bigpond (especially NS after introduction of NS:Combat). Guess it depends on how many hours you volunteered watching the servers. I used to spend 6+ hours each day checking both game admin and player submitted demos against other records. No way i have that amount of time anymore!
The problem is proving something beyond a reasonable doubt. That's always difficult if the suspect in question can see you spectating. Server cam fixed that later though... they never know when we were recording.

Played every version of CS since the original Beta 1 through to CSS up until a few years back. Hope it is evolutionary rather than revolutionary, but the community tends to be very previous about its baby and any tweaks to the formula so will be interesting to see what the end result is...
They need to sort out the movement from CSS, floaty and bouncy physics objects and some of the other persistant issues from CSS. Condition Zero never really succeeded and if they are genuinely trying to make a console game, the PC version will need to be heavily independent from a controls and movement perspective... But engaging some of the top tier of CSS is probably a good start... Will remain healthily skeptical but may end up picking it up to see what its like and how it compares... |

I was one of the first 'early adopters' of CS way back when (I believe there was some sort of pre-release version around late 1998 early 1999 - although wikipedia claims beta 1 was in Jun 99). I stopped playing it regularly when it went retail because the game became so sanitised and uniform. Some of the exploits/bugs/unintended features actually gave it a charm. Those who were around in those days probably remember CS before it had a money system and weaps were persistent across rounds. Whilst those particular things weren't really conducive to competitive play it actually make the game quite fun.
I understand that they strived for uniformity and sanity to appeal to the '3r33t pro gamer' types but things have changed and we're now in the Age of Modern Wankfare/Call of the jingoists so my money is on them adopting some of the things in those games. But time will tell. |

I'm actually really looking forward to this. CSS graphics are starting to show their age. And by the sounds of it, CS:GO graphics are stunning. One of the testers was saying he just went "WOW" as soon as he loaded up the game saying the weapon models, player models and the map was all graphically amazing. So that's good news! I can't wait!
Might have to redownload CSS....
