Default Symbian Anna & Belle

For those of you who haven't seen, Nokia has released a Symbian Anna (PR 2.0). It's looking like a tidy/serviceable update, nothing game changing though, and it's taken way too long to arrive. Important changes include:
  • new browser
  • portrait qwerty
  • new icons (kinda neat, not as big as they're making it out to be though)

So..has anyone been able to update to Anna, or are we all at the mercy of our carriers?

FYI, Belle is also on the horizon. This update looks pretty cool and it was what I was hoping for when I bought my N8. It looks like Belle changes the smartphone operation (almost) completely. I still can't understand why Nokia have abandoned Symbian in the long run after seeing this (...seriously Elop, what the fuck?).

Thoughts?

im using a nokia. symbian has terrible usability, and going by the anna update, it introduces some important overhauls but still has a lot missing. the web browser didnt look any different, and no fix on portrait/landscape lag. along with many other problems such as random app dissapearance and crashing, bad touch commands responsiveness, terrible connections manager, there is just too much wrong with symbian. Belle looks a bit more futuristic, but when is it going to arrive? Some of these changes are too cosmetic. New icons and wallpapers? Come on. If you compared the UI of windows phone against even belle, windows wins no contest. im surprised they didnt abandon symbian sooner.

i highly doubt we will ever see belle released.

nokia - far too little, way too late. if belle was released 3 years ago nokia'd be in with a fighting chance, but with WP7 taking an ever smaller chunk of the smartphone market and rapidly fading into obscurity, nokia (consumer-device wise) is dead in the water.

belle is almost ready to go, it comes with the n700 which is due for release next month, Nokia reckon the N8 will get belle Nov/December this year.

Anna works fine I have no issues with it, the update mail client looks hot, only issue I've had so far is my sms conversations are causing alot of log, possibly have something to do with 3000+messages in my inbox....
