Default Samsung Galaxy Note Dual Core 1.4ghz, 5.3" AMOLED

Any takers?

Quote:
Until a few days ago we'd heard surprisingly little about the Galaxy Note, a handset rumored to be launching alongside the Galaxy Tab 7.7 and Wave 3 at IFA. It's ironic, really, because of all the phones to have kept a low profile, this is a memorable one. Behold, a 5.3-inch handset with a stowaway pen for note-taking, drawing and grabbing screen captures. In other words, a Dell Streak-esque hunk of a device that blurs the lines between phone and tablet. You're looking at a Gingerbread-running HSPA+ handset with a 1280 x 800 Super AMOLED display, dual 8MP and 2MP cameras, a removable 2,500mAh battery and the same Samsung-made dual-core 1.4GHz processor you'll find in the just-announced Galaxy Tab 7.7. For a phone this gargantuan, it's actually quite thin at light, at 9.65mm (0.38 inches) thick and a reasonable 178 grams (6.3 ounces). We had a few minutes to handle the phone in advance of today's press conference, and found it surprisingly easy to grip, even in our small hands. As with the Infuse 4G --whose own 4.5-inch screen once seemed impossibly sprawling -- the thin shape makes it tenable, as does the lightweight, textured plastic lining the back...
Have been impressed with my iphone 4 but after using my mates galaxy 2 I was amazed how much the bigger screen made a difference.

This looks like the next upgrade

May be to big for some but I don't think so.

will only settle for super amoled+ after comparing both of my SGS'es

its like having a mini samsung led tv around lol

super amoled+ only takes 50% to achieve the same brightness on the super amoled at 100%

the subpixel re-arrangement made a huge difference to color reproduction and picture details, best suited for pictures, games and videos

The note looks like a sweet upgrade to my dell streak...
Was going to wait for the opus one (streak successor) but knowing their marketing team I think the note has more chance of bring in my pocket

have to agree. "5.3-inch" device will be close to not being pocketable.

that screen is going to be bonkers. 1280x800 in a 5 inch display? are you freaking kidding me? and super AMOLED too? despite hak's little elitist-fit above, i dont think anyone realises how much of a feat this is considering not long ago samsung were having trouble getting resolutions higher than 800x400 in their mobile super AMOLED displays.

i wonder if this will be the basis for the nexus prime (although i think the screen and footprint is too big for a phone; anything bigger than about 4.3 inches is getting too unwieldy in my view).

the tab 7.7 is a better buy IMO

amoled+ 1280x800

1.4 exynos

if you have a screen like that the bigger the better, hd movies look awesome on them

the prime should stay at GS 2 sizes, it is perfectly fine and the resolution doesn't matter at that size. Retina is overrated to me.

the note has the 1.4ghz exynos too.

the note looks like it is a full-fledged phone, while the galaxy tab will only be a tab, and completely impractical for use as a phone anyway due to its size.

for people who could handle using/owning the dell streak, they'll love this.

If it uses a SIM, I want one as it ticks all the boxes. Like the others have said it's 1280x800 on fucking 5" of screen - the ppi will be insane! I think my eyes will bleed...

The pixel density is also higher than iphone4, and we are talking about a 5.3" screen too!

I think this will be my next upgrade! But will have to wait for the Nexus Prime before making my decision.

I've already find my 4.3" screen on the HTC Desire HD a bit....normal..and really don't mind a bigger screen for better web browsing. To tell the truth, I rarely make extended phone calls anyway and mostly use my phone for browsing, RSS feed reading, facebook, GPS map, etc. And even if I do, it would be at home and I will be using my handsfree.

The only problem left is to check for portability and if it will fit most of my pants' pocket. (just checked and it's barely acceptable lol)

I still can't place this one. It's clearly not a tablet, but it's not a phone. 5.3" screen is (for me at least) smack bang in the middle. I'm not sure what this is trying to achieve.

I believe the 5" mark is the sweetspot for smartphones and most likely top tier models will be that size in the future. Dell made a fantastic flexible product but their marketing sucked so badly it was laughable. I'm sure samsung will be much better in this department.

Having used my streak for a little over a year I find my friends phones toyish and unproductive. Obviously I'm talking about all the features other than making a call itself, and frankly I couldn't give 2 shits what other people think while I'm making a call hand held

So all I'm saying is anyone who is serious about using their phones for apps, gps, calendar etc, once you have tried this size there is 0% chance of going smaller. This is what dell and samsung has and will be trying to achieve.

Although guys wearing skinny jeans will have a problems.
