I don't see why.. there have been many diablo clones over the years. What specifically would cause an issue here?

also, wtf@ the skill tree.

I guess I'm probably wrong. It's just that from the intro/character selection, to in-game with the inventory interface, the way weapons drop and can be highlighted, etc, looks to me more like Diablo than any other game I've ever seen...

But while Blizzard might not care so much about this, but the fact that they will make money off this via micro transactions makes me think Blizzard will consider this a clone of D3... look at Apple vs Samsung right now...but hey i'm no professional in law. :-)

The skill tree... looks hectic

Looks like it might be an exciting game, hopefully the clunky movement isn't all that bad when we get to try this game.

On what grounds can blizzard sue? Blizzard did not pioneer isometric Role-Playing Game style. If this game directly copies game assets from Diablo for use in the game , then copyright infringement may have occurred. This is why full conversion game mods are a legal risk.

The Apple verse Samsung is in court because Apple claims Samsung infringed upon its patents. Different set of IP laws granting exclusive rights to sell a product for a limited period of time in exchange for public disclosure of an invention.

Cool.. as you can tell i'm a real noob at that legal stuff. Ahh well, it's good news though because this game looks pretty cool and people in the Path of Exile forums are pretty fired up.

Anyone on OCAU playing this yet? I hear existing beta players get a beta key every 6-12 hours that they can give out, not sure if it's true, sounds a bit far fetched...

only got into beta yesterday.

Games pretty awesome, few minor bug's but it's pretty damn polished for a closed beta, thats for sure!
