yeah - just came to post that.... $79 boot drive

I am guessing these are rebadged early 25nm Vertex 2 drives that got OCZ in the shit for being incorrectly advertised at 34nm speeds

Small preview of the drive here (Nov. 2010): http://www.anandtech.com/show/4020/o...linx-martini/1

Also interested in picking one up for my laptop since the heat & overall slowness of the 2.5" HDD is getting to me.

it's got 2,500 iops compared to the vertex 2's 50,000.
I don't know much about ssd's, but would that make much difference?

Would anyone really bother? You can get a Corsair Force 3 for $40 more.

Would you even notice the performance increase or is it more about stability?

It's about performance. The iops rating makes a huge difference as that's what makes the drive fast at reading lots of little small files in a row, vs the max read/write speeds which are measured with big files.

With the iops rating on these being so low to me it seems they'd pretty much only be good for fast storage, not so much as an OS drive. Still curious if anyone has actually used one though.

Just wanted to bump this thread to see if anyone is using an OCZ Vertex Plus. Apparently, there are quite a few issues with data corruption which seem to have been resolved with firmware updates. However, I am curious regarding the performance of the OCZ Vertex Plus considering the low IOPS value.
