Quick thoughts on the U2311H vs U2312HM...
The colour reproduction on my U2312HM is significantly worse than my U2311H. In a dual monitor setup it can easily be seen that the blacks are more grey. The U2311 can clearly identify all blacks on this test image, whilst it is difficult to discern the first 3 on the U2312. http://www.lagom.nl/lcd-test/black.php Likewise with whites, the U2311 can clearly see all whites in this test image, whilst the last two are difficult - the last one is completely white. http://www.lagom.nl/lcd-test/white.php In general use colours look completely different in different images which is incredibly annoying from any kind of design perspective. IMO if you are after a decent panel steer away from the U2312 and look elsewhere. |

They're both 6 bit panels with dithering, obviously the 2312HM has a poorer contrast ratio then 2211/2311 panels.
If you're into design, get a 2410, 2711 or a 3011 - They're the only true IPS panels with 8 bit color able to reproduce a full 1.07 billion colors.

Aren't the new ones [the crappy form of] LED? If so, that explains it.
![]() My U2311 displays colours extremely well, and very evenly. No, not wide-gamut stuff, obviously. However, for general usage, it's great! Especially for the ~$200 (delivered) I paid. Good viewing angles, too (of course). |

Given these are 180 at the moment, I'm looking at them for an eyefinity setup for games, and maybe some minor graphic work. Thoughts?
Or should I grab these instead http://www.oo.com.au/LG_Super_IPS_22...D_W_P89171.cfm

Ditto. The original U2311 is brilliant and has more than adequate colour reproduction for the price.

From DELL website.
They just finished a special on the U2312HM, going for just under $170 each. I got 2. One thing I would say is the default brightness is WAY TOO MUCH. I had to turn it all the way down, otherwise it was killing my eyes. |
