in vaches thread on XDA, in the 2.1 changelog theres a link to which kernel he uses, in that link richardtrip states the kernel can OC upto 1.6ghz, but he also mentions this
Quote:
use 1.5Ghz on daily basis, 1.6 and 1.64 not stable on all tablets
which is pretty much what i was going to say next anyway, 1.6 is not really well suited for 24-7, 1.4-1.5 would be stable on all of our tablets but 1.6 is iffy.

also, i added you new owners to the op

If you guys use headphones or speakers on your tablets and have been getting the simultaneous audio output bug which seems to happen on some most of our tablets (not rom specific) try turning off dolby mobile, this apparently fixes that problem.

Thanks mate
I was going through a couple of threads on xda referring to this.
I've now flashed Taboonay 2.1b + richardtrips v3.4 kernel. Tested OCing with SetCPU & it works, but i've left it as stock for now since i don't have anything installed but RootExplorer & SetCPU.

Still having issues syncing chrome bookmarks with the stock browser and keep getting an "insert SIM" message on the lock screen, neither of which are deal breakers anyway.

EDIT: Ok so the 3rd post on the first page says Taboonay 2.0 is based on the A501 build, guess that explains the 'insert SIM' message

you can remove the insert sim message, on thors kernel or the one that comes with taboonay 2.0< simply open taboonay tools and set the data mode to wifi only, and reboot.
aslong as you use these kernels, the device can detect the correct build.prop value, getting rid of that message.

btw taboonay 2.1 is based off the a500 and the a501 OTA's

isn't the latest taboonay based purely on the a500 update?

Yup it's removed now, i didnt reboot after switching it to wifi only the first time.
I've flashed HoneyVillian 3.4 (or wtv richardtrip's kernel is called), so that also seems to detect the correct build.prop value.

Hadn't used the tab since i got my SII, so figured i'd flash a new ROM do at least use it for sometihng

hak: from what i read its mainly based on the new acer hc 3.2 a500 OTA but with lots of tweaks and some minor framework from the previous build which was based on the HC 3.2 a501 OTA rom

djyoshii: you do know right that when you flash taboonay 2.0/1 full rom it also gives you Villain 3.4 kernel with it you dont need to flash any additional zip to run a richardtrip kernel, its included

had no idea...so uh, let's just forget i ever did that

This was only the second time i've flashed a custom ROM, and first i've flashed a separate kernel. I wasn't even sure what the kernels were for until i started reading up on this. Thought they were just there for others to build their ROMs on hehe

hehe its cool, its all a good learning experience, I was a total noob when i first got my htc desire from here (starting out on android)

I had to learn about CWM, Hboots, kernels, roms, all of it.

prior to the desire i had a blackstone, which is winmo, so i was already a little accustom to flashing roms but the process is quite different.

as long so you dont full brick anything along the way, learn it all at your own pace

Once you have clockwork recovery on your device you shouldnt need to rely on anything else.

when you went back to stock it overwrote your custom recovery environment

you could re-root it and reflash a custom recovery to it if you want.

as said though, it doesnt matter if you dont know everything all at once, part of the fun is learning about it all and stuff. (hopefully without bricking valuables )
