After I did the elevations tonight I decided to try and put in the micro decoder without much success. It kinda blew up on me I shorted 2 wires, so another $85 from the usa for a replacement.

After that I started to lay the outer loop's underlay

Ah so still a way off, then.
But I mean will you make your own buildings and lighting, or will you just buy it pre-made?

Right now I have a pile of stuff that was given to me from France while I was over there last month. So I will restore them and use them to start with.

The terain i iwll make myself but at this stage building houses and buildings is not on the list of things to do. So it wil lbe unlikely that I will make any myself.

I went to a train expo just near Stonehenge in the UK last month as well and there were about 4 displays with guys building their own buildings. It looked really simple to do but takes ages.

Tonight I have completed the outer loop and started doing the under lay for the next loop in.

My second loop is now complete. But I had massive problems with short circuits. In the end I discovered it was the V at the centre of the point short circuiting my track. So i have had to wedge little blocks in them to keep the V appart.

Basically wipes mine on the floor

I am using cork instead of Foam for my subroadbed, Then painting over it with a ScenicsPaint.

Using a sheet of pre made grass for my landscape.

Sad thing is no elevation as yet, Looking to build a mountain soon that covers a section of the track..

still just getting my track worked out at the moment (derail points ect)

Will post pics shortly.

Have one of these currently being shipped to me

Totally unsure if its even going to run on my tight inner curves

Is that a flying scottsman?

I want one similar.

I have built this trainset alot larger because my old set's corners were too tight. This time i have all 21" to 30" corners.

I started to lay the underlay for the rear rail yard

This is the side for the 3rd line nad entry to the rail yard

Attempt 1 at stopping the points short circuiting. as you can see the little wooden wedge in the middle to pull appart the tracks in the "V". This wasn't very successful.

Because pulling the V appart was'nt successful I had to get out the dremel and cut the V appart from the main track. This worked perfectly and since have done every point the same.

The rear yard is half laid. The exit will come later tonight. I need to start laying the underlay for the figure of 8 now.
